The Railgun is one of the three main guns in Strafe, and the one with the coolest firing noise. It works great for people who prefer clinically nailing monsters from a distance.

When you first get it, the railgun is an accurate single-shot weapon made for efficient long-range combat. The simple point-and-click interface belies the amount of difficult strafing you'll have to do at close range to evade and set up shots on swarming enemies, but one hypervelocity metal slug is enough to end the career of most monsters no matter which organ it ends up in.
The railgun is probably the most functional and powerful starting weapon, being both strong and accurate right off the bat. Because of this it's hard to improve on much through bonuses (though accuracy bonuses helps with very long shots).
